Music for a Cause
The goal of the MayFlowers Relief Project is to use music from local artists to help raise money for tornado relief. The idea is to start by creating an iPhone app that will sell for $1 and include tracks donated by bands as well as iPhone wallpaper from local photographers. The app will also allow people to make additional donations. To get this project up and going quickly it needs to be super simple in the beginning. However the app will expand and this will grow into an website and Android app to help further the cause. 100% of the proceeds and donations will go directly to tornado aid and so this all has to be done by volunteers.
This is where you come in. Please send an email to the appropriate email address below if you would like to help out or want additional information. We really need help with the following to make this a success:
1. Music – music@mayflowersrelief.org – this app needs tracks. If you are in a band and can donate a track, we want it. If you know anyone in the music industry or in bands please let them know what we are doing and see if they are interested. The bands don’t have to be local but just willing and able to donate a track. The music aspect of this will really help it raise money and reach people that may not have become involved otherwise. There is no limit to the number of tracks we can include with this and that number can continue to grow. If you want to submit a track please send an email to music@mayflowersrelief.org with the audio file (preferably mp3 and the higher the bit rate the better) and include the band name, genre, band website (optional), band picture (optional), and song title in the email.
2. Photography / Graphic design – photography@mayflowersrelief.org – we need pictures to turn into iPhone wallpapers.
3. Promotion – promotion@mayflowersrelief.org – once this goes live its success will depend on how visible it is. We plan to hit up newspapers, magazines, television news, tech sites, app sites, etc. Please let us know if you have any ideas or ways to help promote it.
4. Credible Recipients – recipient@mayflowersrelief.org – the goal is for all money to go directly to aid. We don’t want to turn it over to organizations where it will go to administrative costs.
5. Non-Profit – nonprofit@mayflowersrelief.org – please let us know if you have experience with non-profits and can help us set one up.
6. Your Time – info@mayflowersrelief.org – if you don’t have a direct connection to any of the above you can still help! We can point you in the right direction to contact bands or help promote the app. If you have a specific area you would like to get involved in please send an email to the email address for that section listed above.
